Rose Oser (she/they) is a Brooklyn-based theatremaker from the San Francisco Bay Area.
They are the creator and host of poly poly oxen free, a live poly dating show (featured in The Gothamist, NY Times, and the SF Chronicle), now running in New York City and San Francisco. From 2016-2024, they produced and hosted over 50 performances of Tinder Disrupt, San Francisco’s hit powerpoint dating show.
In May 2023, they assumed the role of Producing Director of National Queer Theater, best known for the Obie Award-winning Criminal Queerness Festival. Prior to that, they worked at Z Space in San Francisco from 2017-2022, first as the Associate Artistic Director then Interim Producing Director. Notable producing credits at Z Space: The Red Shades: A Trans Superhero Rock Opera, Problematic Play Festival (LMDA Bly Grant), and the world premiere of Ripped by Rachel Bublitz (Will Glickman Award).
They are the book writer of Shoshana in December (2022 production Custom Made, Relentless Award Honorable Mention 2022, 2021 reading Z Space, NEA ArtWorks recipient) and Tinderella: the modern musical (2018 world premiere FaultLine and Custom Made; 2022 production Brunish Theatre, Portland'5).
They are a member of Beehive Dramaturgy Studio and work as the Resident Dramaturg for the annual JMF Writers Grove at Goodspeed.
As the Co-Artistic Director of FaultLine Theater in San Francisco from 2016-2019 (recipient of the Annette Lust Award in 2018), they mounted full productions of new works by local and national playwrights. They worked as the Grant Writer for American Conservatory Theater from 2014-2017. They hold a BA in Rhetoric from University of California, Berkeley.
